John Konefes - Director
John has been the IWRC Director since its inception. He manages the Iowa Waste Reduction Center's programs and activities and interacts with small business’ to learn their needs. John pursues continued and new funding for the IWRC to ensure continuation of a quality small business environmental assistance program.
Diane Albertson - Information Technology Specialist
Diane manages databases and coordinates computer software and hardware upgrades. She is also the Technical Manager the Iowa Waste Exchange program.
Sue Behrns - Waste Reduction Specialist
Sue writes construction permits and conducts emissions inventory questionnaires. She also takes part in multi-media onsite visits and keeps current with changes and updates to the Storm Water regulations.
Michael (Joe) Bolick - Process Research Reduction and Education Specialist
Joe is involved with conducting STAR4D® training and the development of the Basic Spray Painter Training Course of the United States Air Force. He is also the project manager for the development of virtual reality abrasive blasting simulator and marketing coordinator for the LaserPaint® and VirtualPaint™.
Jason Ebensberger - Information Technology Specialist
Jason is in charge of the IWRC Network and System Administrator and IT Management.
Brian Gedlinske - Environmental Specialist
Brian has been providing environmental compliance and technical assistance to Iowa’s small business community for approximately 15 years. Prior to joining the IWRC, he was a hydrogeologist with an environmental engineering firm. In addition to providing regulatory assistance with air quality requirements, solid waste, and hazardous waste, Brian often provides on-site technical and training assistance to businesses in regard to metal finishing pretreatment and spray finishing. He has also performed numerous case study projects involving waste water characterization and reduction, spray finishing, and metal finishing pretreatment.
Tom Giblin - Research Technician
Tom assists with the painter training course for STAR4D® military painting programs and performs on-site visits to military bases all over the United States to train painters in proper painting techniques and equipment selection.
Glee Kidder - Office Coordinator I
Directing office staff, maintaining the purchasing and accounting records and working with various grant projects are all responsibilities of the Office Coordinator position.
Rick Klein - Senior Research Technician
Rick is the Program Manager for the STAR4D® painter training program and the STAR4D® U.S. Air Force Painter Training Course Development and Demonstration project. He provides technical assistance to military facilities and conducts research and demonstration projects to assist Department of Defense painting facilities.
Chris Lampe - Process Research Reduction and Education Specialist
Chris is the lead trainer for Spray Technique Analysis and Research for Defense (STAR4D) program. He coordinates STAR4D training activities and organizes outreach to various military installations. Chris oversees all of the hands-on and classroom training activities for STAR4D. Chris was also been one of the courseware developers for the Spray Technique Analysis and Research for Defense Air Force (STAR4DAF) program.
Dan Nickey - Program Manager
Dan manages the Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program (IAEAP), helping small businesses meet air emission requirements and reduce air emissions. Dan keeps up-to-date on state and federal air permit regulations, conducts on-site reviews and provides assistance to businesses on behalf of the IAEAP.
Jim Olson - Associate Director
Jim manages the IWRC's on-site review program and is involved in various research projects. He also assists with research and training for the STAR4D® programs.
Julie Reinitz - Graphic Designer
As the IWRC graphic artist, Julie works with staff to design manuals, newsletters, annual reports and other publications.
Jeremiah Treloar - Research Reduction and Education Specialist
Jeremiah joined the IWRC as a student intern in the summer of 2001 and was hired as a research assistant for the STAR4D program in 2003. The research assistant position prepared Jeremiah to transition into a full-time IWRC staff member in 2005. Jeremiah is currently involved with the STAR4D, STAR4DAF, Mandaree and Virtual Training System projects at the IWRC. His responsibilities include project management, technology development, training curriculum development and painter training instruction.
John Whiting - Waste Reduction Education/Research Specialist
John worked extensively with the Pollution Prevention for Painting and Coating Compliance Enhancement Process Training program. He also conducts second-step detailed assistance and applied research.
Mark Williamson - Environmental Business Manager
Mark began working at the IWRC as a Program Assistant for the IAEAP. He helped small business understand and comply with air regulations and performed regular on-site regulatory and pollution prevention audits. In August of 2007, Mark was accepted as the IWRC’s Environmental Business Manager. While Mark still works with the IAEAP, he now oversees the process related to selling IWRCPaint products; everything from budgets and marketing to customer relationships and sales.
