Thomas Bierma

Tom Bierma is a Research Professor of Environmental Health in the Department of Health Sciences at Illinois State University, where he has taught and conducted research for over 30 years. He is a member of the McLean County Wellness Coalition committee on food access and rescue, and the McLean County Solid Waste Planning technical advisory committee. McLean County, Illinois is currently undertaking efforts to coordinate food rescue and food waste diversion activities. Dr. Bierma’s research focuses on waste minimization and recycling. He received his B.S. in Environmental Health from Illinois State University, his MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, and his Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
