Cameron Hawkins

Cameron Hawkins is the Waste Diversion Director at Yampa Valley Sustainability Council (YVSC) in Steamboat Springs, CO. YVSC is a non-profit that aims to be a resource and catalyst for building a sustainable community in NW Colorado. Cameron has been with YVSC since 2015, but has been leading local waste diversion efforts since 2017. Through community education and outreach, she tackles food waste, works to increase access to proper recycling of hard-to-recycle materials, organizes two large-scale Recycling Drop-Off events per year and is currently leading the community in a waste diversion strategic planning process among other projects. Prior to moving to Colorado, Cameron worked for a community health and development organization in Jamkhed, Maharashtra, India. Cameron holds a B.S. in Biology from Elon University in North Carolina.
