From the Composting Council Research & Education Foundation's website,

"International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry. It is celebrated nationwide and in other countries each year during the first full week of May. Started in Canada in 1995, ICAW has continued to grow as more people, businesses, municipalities, schools, and organizations are recognizing the importance of composting and the long-term benefits from organics recycling."

Due to the circumstances dealing with COVID-19, this year the Composting Council Research & Education Foundation has decided that some of the ICAW activities including workshops on compost, compost give-aways, and tours of facilities won’t be happening. However,  the council is still planning to build awareness on the topic of composting through other ways. On their website, they have provided a lot of helpful resources for people to share and use, and will be adding more to those resources as ICAW gets closer.
