Introducing the Food, Beverage, and Organics Team

Meet the Food, Beverage and Organics Team

Our landfills are getting fuller by the day and a large contributor to that is simply the food we throw away. What if you could learn how to compost, find out where to donate unused or surplus food, or utilize anerobic digestion? Wait, what is anerobic digestion?

No matter what information or assistance you are looking for, the IWRC can help you find smarter, more sustainable ways to operate OR better yet, help you prevent waste before it's even generated.

At the IWRC, we have three determined team members ready to help your business or community find actionable solutions to your organic waste. Learn a little about each team member and what areas they can assist your business.

Meet the Team

Jennifer Trent Program Manager

Get to know Jennifer

I am thrilled to be leading the Food, Beverage, and Organics program at the Iowa Waste Reduction Center. Basically, I love helping businesses, especially in the areas of food and beverage, cut down on waste and find smarter, more sustainable ways to operate. I also help with the Iowa Green Brewery Certification Program, which is a fun way to help breweries go green without losing their edge. Composting is a big part of what I do too! I’m super involved locally and nationally, helping folks turn food waste into something useful. If you’ve got a sustainability idea or challenge, I’d love to hear about it. I’m all about turning big ideas into real, doable solutions.

Get to know Joe

I began with the IWRC over 20 years ago, starting as a student intern and now as the Director - but don't let that fool you, I still like to get my hands on a project or two. One of my favorite projects is the Iowa Green Brewery Certification Program. Here is get to help breweries of every size and scope assess their environmentally friendly practices and implement new ones so they can achieve their desired level of certification. I thrive big on building partnerships and finding creative ways to solve environmental challenges. If you’ve got a project or idea that could use a fresh perspective, let's connect!
