Composting Made Easy

Hosted by the Hillview Urban Agriculture Center, this workshop will teach you everything you need to know about composting at home. Not only will you learn about how to sustainably dispose of food, but you will also be able to create wonderful, nutritious fertilizer for your garden, house plants, and yard. This event takes place at the Southside Neighborhood Center, 1300 6th St S, La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Growing Sustainable Communities Conference

Hosted by the City of Dubuque, Iowa, the Growing Sustainable Communities Conference is the largest and longest-standing sustainability conference in the Midwest and will be held again this year at the Grand River Center located in the Port of Dubuque at 500 Bell Street. The 12th annual conference will be two days of education, inspiration, and collaboration on topics of interest to anyone who cares about creating great towns and cities that stand the test of time.

ReFed Food Waste Summit

This event will bring together influential thought leaders and decision-makers from across sectors, who have a shared interest in sustainable food systems, including food businesses, investors, foundations, national nonprofits, governments, innovators, and academics.  Invited attendees will share and discuss strategies to achieve our common goal to cut food waste in half by 2030, and the opportunities to generate profits, increase food security, spur economic growth and protect the environment.  Jennifer Trent will be in attendance to represent the IWRC at the summit.

BioCycle REFOR19

BioCycle REFOR19 is the one and only industry conference bringing experts together to provide assistance to you. The conference will give individuals the chance to tap new opportunities, solve core challenges, and explore solutions. The four day conference will include workshops, informational sessions, and site tours! BioCycle will also offer a great opportunity to network and make valuable connections with industry trendsetters. Hosted by the American Biogas Council, this conference takes place in Madison, Wisconsin.

IWRC's Iowa Green Brewery Certification program will again be joining Iowa Brewers Guild members at i-BEST (Iowa Brewers Education Seminar and Tippling). This year's event will take place at Exile Brewing Co. in Des Moines, IA on November 1-2. 

Along with seminars on scaling up pilot recipes, self-distribution strategies, taproom service, protecting trade secrets, and more, the 2019 keynote addresses will be delivered by historian Maureen Ogle and industry veteran Ann Fahy.

The Iowa Strategic Goals Program Workshop

November 13 2019 | 9:00 am to 3:20 pm

The Iowa Strategic Goals Program is holding a 1-day workshop on November 13, 2019!  In this workshop, attendees will hear about Iowa DNR’s new Air Reporting system, EASY Air. Also in the morning, a representative from US Water will discuss efficient ways that water use can be optimized in manufacturing facilities saving money. In the afternoon a representative from EPA Region 7 will discuss the RCRA inspection process and how to make a waste determination.
